Assistant Controller

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced assistant controller to manage the monthly closing process, prepare global consolidating financial statements, design and implement new accounting processes as the company expands, ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control procedures (SOX), and serve as a cross-functional project leader. The assistant controller will be a hands-on leader that is analytical and used to working in the details. BFA Industries is a PE backed, fast-paced company, and we are looking for an assistant controller that is comfortable operating in this type of environment.

Remote through Jan 2022. Beginning Feb 22, Tues/Wed in the Pembroke Pines, FL office.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage the monthly close and reporting process in accordance with US GAAP
  • Lead teams responsible for inventory control, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger
  • Partner with Shared Services team to ensure accurate and timely monthly close
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Preparation of global consolidating financial statements and management reports
  • Coordinate quarterly auditor reviews and year-end audit
  • Monitor, update, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Evaluate, design and implement internal controls to become SOX compliant
  • Oversee NetSuite maintenance of chart of accounts and reporting
  • Assist with reporting to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors
  • Partner with FP&A to develop budgets and forecasts
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and leverage technologies
  • Mentor, train, and develop a motivated team of employees
  • Lead cross-functional projects 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA required
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in an assistant controller role
  • Strong inventory control and/or audit experience required
  • Analytical and detail-oriented
  • Ability to synthesize information and communicate effectively with senior leadership
  • Strong cross-functional partner and team player
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Proven track record of leading in a fast-paced environment
  • NetSuite experience a plus
  • Expert-level Excel skills
